Victoria Beckham and the Loewe Paloma Bag

Whenever I have the opportunity to bring you a true masterpiece of handbag design, I seize it immediately. Believe me when I say the Loewe Paloma Bag is an exquisite piece. A classic silhouette and elegant detailing give the 'Paloma' a distinct retro look that brings to mind the days when ladies-did-lunch. Although there are still women around who fit this stereotypical mold, you're more apt to see today's socialites carrying Marc Jacobs or Miu Miu. Thank goodness women like Victoria Beckham (as well as plenty of Spanish transplants that live in Miami) recognize the timeless sophistication of a bag like the Loewe Paloma.

Victoria is sporting a navy blue lizard version of the 'Paloma' that is simply to die for. I prefer a lizard finish to that of other exotics like crocodile on bags like this. The texture of the lizard is a more suitable backdrop for designs with such distinct detailing as the 'Paloma'. The tear drop/hook closure on the front fold-over flap would compete for attention with the overpowering nature of croc skin. Best to leave crocodile for a bag like the Hermés Birkin, where the simplicity of the design allows the skin to take center stage.

With an outfit like this, Victoria Beckham certainly earns her "Posh" nickname, and her Loewe Paloma Bag is the pièce de résistance. Do you agree?

Wow...Victoria Beckham is flawless! I love the secret agent leather trench and fedora paired with sky high heels. You are absolutely right about this bag! The gorgeous navy lizard skin provides a perfect backdrop for that statement closure. The overall simplistic design and lesser known label make the Loewe Paloma a must-have for sure!
